The Nothing Phone 3 hasn’t been officially announced yet, but we’ve compiled all the current rumours about the upcoming device from the brand led by Carl Pei.

Nothing is a relatively new smartphone company that has achieved significant success in a short period. So far, the company has launched three phones, with the Nothing Phone 2 being the most recent. The next device on their list might be named the Nothing Phone 3.

The Phone 3 is expected to share many features with its predecessors – Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2 – such as the Glyph interface and the semi-transparent design.

However, the Nothing Phone 3 is anticipated to have hardware upgrades to compete with the top Android phones. It might feature an updated SoC, enhanced camera system, and other improvements. The Nothing Phone 3 could emerge as a flagship contender, challenging the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Pixel 9 series.

Here’s what we know so far about the Nothing Phone 3, including its expected price, release date, and more.

Nothing Phone 3 Price

The price of the Nothing Phone 3 remains speculative for now. The Nothing Phone 2 starts at $600 in the US, while the Phone 1, which was not released in the States, is priced at £400 (approximately $500). This pattern hints at a possible price increase for the upcoming model, but it’s too soon to be certain.

According to a report by 91Mobiles, the Nothing Phone 3’s expected price range in India is between ₹40,000 to ₹45,000 (about $480 to $540). For comparison, the base variant of the Nothing Phone 2 is priced at ₹36,999 ($444) in India. This indicates that the Phone 3 might also see a price hike in the US and other markets.

Design & display

Nothing phones have consistently maintained a unique design, and it’s likely the Phone 3 will follow suit without major aesthetic changes. The brand has established its identity with a semi-transparent, LED-infused design. Nothing’s smartphones stand out in the Android market with their glass backs that showcase the internal components. The LED interface, known as the Glyph Interface, lights up for calls and notifications and can be customised for various functions like a flashlight or volume indicator.

The Glyph Interface also serves as a visual progress bar for compatible apps. For instance, Uber’s integration lights up the LEDs to show how close your ride is. Nothing might collaborate with more developers to enhance this functionality for other apps.

On May 21, Carl Pei hinted at a new feature for the Nothing Phone 3 via a social media post. He shared screenshots of Nothing OS 3, asking for user feedback. The phone in these images featured four buttons, unlike previous models which had three (volume rockers and power button). This new button, located below the power button, could be an Action Button like the one on the iPhone 15 Pro Max or a mute switch similar to the OnePlus 12.

With the Phone 2, Nothing significantly improved the display, featuring a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 1600 nits, and HDR10+ support. The Phone 3 might offer an even brighter display while retaining the same refresh rate and display technology.

Camera

In the current smartphone market, cameras often take center stage, but Nothing seems unfazed by these trends. Both the Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2 feature a dual-camera setup, though with some variations. The Phone 2 boasts a newer Sony IMX890 main sensor with 50MP output, phase-detect autofocus, and optical image stabilization.

The upcoming Phone 3 is expected to continue with the dual-camera setup on the rear. However, there is hope that Nothing will use an improved sensor to enhance low-light photography. The previous models have had challenges capturing high-quality photos in low-light conditions.

Nothing 3 Phone Release Date

Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2 were released in July, suggesting that the Phone 3 might also debut in July 2024. However, no official information has been released yet.

According to Android Headlines, the Nothing Phone 3 was spotted in an unspecified database with the model number “A015.” Their exclusive report claims that the “Nothing Phone 3 is coming out this summer.” Contradicting this, a report by 91Mobiles asserts that the model number A015 actually belongs to the CMF Phone 1.
